Policy for the People
I'm new to politics but I see things differently than some who make decisions at the legislature.
I am a new voice. A new choice.
Education
I am a third generation teacher. Public money, our income tax, should go to public education. It's in the state constitution.
Moving away from the priority that the Utah constitution puts on eduction is hurting families, hurting education, and hurting Utah. Vouchers, by any name or scheme, should not be used with our tax dollars.
Water and Housing
We all know these are the big issues facing our state.
Cities, counties, and the legislature seem to be all hoping that the others come up with the solutions. The trajectory we're on isn't likely to fully address our future.
I do not represent investors or developers. I represent individuals and families that are the backbone of Utah.
Checks and Balances
We grew up learning about three branches of government and how they worked together. This is one of the wonderful elements of the American experiment.
We divide up responsibility and accountability between the three branches. They look out for the interests of the citizens.
Having a legislature that deems themselves above the judiciary is a problem. The branches of government provide guardrails and accountability.
Affordability and what might impact it
If artificial Intelligence starts impacting grocery prices like other pricing systems it will impact affordability for everyone in the state.
If a store system sees my face or registers my phone nearby and sets prices for me it invites abuse.
Consider this scenario. A shopper enters the produce section. They have a history of buying bananas. AI can set the banana price higher than it would be for me as I pass by to get the raspberries. And the raspberry price can be individualized for me.
We can't let AI test our price tolerance. I have no idea what diapers cost in 2026. Those days are beyond me. But someone will get tested to see where their price tolerance is for essentials.
